On our first date back in 2022, his first question was, “Do you like dogs?” Honestly, I thought it was one of those getting to know each other questions, so I answered, “Yes, dogs are cute.” I mean, I had nothing against dogs, they’re nice, you know, they’re living beings, I personally would have been afraid to pet one 3 years ago but, I wouldn’t say I don’t like them. After that, he said, “I love dogs, I’m going to get one after I marry and settle down. I want a big, male, working line German Shepherd.” In my head that was like saying, I’m going to get a big house with a balcony and big pool and spa area… one day.”
2 years, 1 wedding later and a few months after that, my husband got a working line German Shepherd puppy at 8 weeks old – it is important that I mention this was right in the middle of our house renovation and no it wasn’t our Nova yet. It was Nova’s brother who we named, Kane. An adorable, all black, German Shepherd puppy, the cutest little soul, with an absolute lunatic of a brain for first time puppy owners.
And that’s where the we had to make a big decision that would potentially crush my Husband’s dream – Should We Swap Him for a Female?
